Looking to Electrify Your Pickups? Choose Brogen’s eBeam Axle for Pickup Conversion!

Brogen’s Pickup Conversion eBeam Axle offers pickup OEMs, conversion workshops and fleet operators a modular and scalable solution for electrifying not only pickup trucks but also MPVs, vans and other light commercial vehicles. This pickup conversion system integrates a high-efficiency coaxial traction motor, gearbox and axle assembly into a compact unit, making it easy to replace the internal combustion engine and conventional axle without extensive chassis modification.

The Pickup Truck Electrification Wave Is Coming

Pickup trucks are not just vehicles; they are essential partners for work and life. They serve construction, farm transport, urban delivery, and recreational uses. From light-duty to heavy-duty models, and from standard beds to extended chassis, pickups cover a wide range of needs. Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, Ram 1500, Toyota Hilux, and Isuzu D-Max dominate global sales. Traditionally, gasoline and diesel engines power these trucks, offering strong towing capability and long range.

In recent years, the world has been steadily promoting energy conservation and emissions reduction, with increasingly stringent zero-emission regulations. Rising fuel costs have also increased vehicle operating and maintenance costs. Furthermore, with consumers increasingly focused on greener travel, the electrification wave has already begun sweeping across the globe.

From sedans to HDVs like mining trucks, this trend has finally reached the pickup truck sector. While automakers are launching pure electric or hybrid pickup trucks, vehicle modification shops and fleet operators are also exploring converting existing gasoline pickup trucks to pure electric or hybrid versions.

Mainstream Conversion Options and Their Limits

The demand for electrification has spawned a variety of modification paths, but the adaptability and limitations of different solutions vary significantly. The current mainstream modification solutions are mainly divided around differences in electric drive structure. The core differences are reflected in whether the drive shaft is retained, the motor layout and performance. The specific advantages and disadvantages are as follows:

• Central Direct Drive Motor：This mature method replaces the engine with a drive motor but keeps the original transmission and driveshaft. It offers lower cost but limits battery placement, reducing range. It suits cost-sensitive light pickups with modest range needs.

• Parallel-Axis Electric Drive Axle：This design removes the driveshaft. The motor sits offset from the axle half-shafts in a parallel arrangement. The motor bias can cause uneven load distribution, increasing wear on chassis parts. It offers weaker NVH performance. This is suitable for light cargo trucks and pickup trucks that do not require high driving and riding comfort.

• Coaxial Electric Drive Axle (Brogen’s eBeam Axle)：With no driveshaft, the motor sits coaxially with the axle half-shafts. This high integration creates a compact unit that saves space, cuts energy loss, boosts efficiency and handling, and delivers better NVH than parallel-axis systems. Brogen’s pickup conversion kit uses this advanced eBeam axle to replace the engine, driveshaft and rear axle with a single integrated coxial electric drive axle. This solution is more advanced and more difficult, but the performance of the entire vehicle will be greatly improved after the modification.

Challenges in Pickup Truck Conversions

Although multiple electric conversion kits exist for pickups and light trucks, real-world projects face several barriers:

1. ❌ High Conversion Costs
A complete pickup conversion kit includes the battery pack, motor, controls, charging port and more, all costly. Installation, tuning and testing need skilled labor, so total conversion cost can approach that of a new entry-level electric pickup.
2. ❌ Insufficient Charging Infrastructure
Pickups work in both cities and remote areas such as rural roads and construction sites, where charging is scarce and inconvenient. Many operators therefore choose range extender electric rather than pure electric options.
3. ❌ Range Anxiety
Most conversion battery packs provide only 200–400 km per charge, and the range drops further under load, with air conditioning or uphill driving. Gasoline pickups easily exceed 500 km per tank, while batteries also lose performance in extreme heat or cold.

Brogen’s Solution Solves Your Concerns

To address the three core pain points of cost, charging, and range, Brogen’s eBeam axle provides a targeted solution. The core technology of this solution is the Brogen coaxial electric drive axle, which directly integrates the electric motor with the axle, eliminating the need for specialized suspension and chassis structures. It’s compatible with most gasoline-powered, light-duty, and full-size pickup trucks as well as light duty vans and MPVs.

This pickup truck conversion kit requires only minor customization, making it cost-effective. It accommodates both 4×2 and 4×4 drive, supports pure electric and extended-range options, and helps eliminate your range anxiety.

Brogen’s 4 Pickup Conversion Solutions

Based on the core technology of eBeam axle, Brogen has launched four different solutions. The specific configurations and applicable scenarios are as follows:

🔑 Solution 1 – Pure Electric 2WD Pickup (ideal for 2.2–3.5t pickups and LDVs)

• Remove engine, gearbox, radiator and rear axle
• Retain front axle; replace rear axle with Brogen eBeam axle
• Place 65-100kWh battery pack between front and rear axles

Lowest conversion difficulty and cost; does not support heavy towing

🔑 Solution 2 – Pure Electric 4WD Pickup (ideal for 3.5–7t pickups and LDVs)

• Remove engine, gearbox, radiator and rear axle
• Replace front axle with integrated motor + controller + gearbox 3-in-1 assembly
• Replace rear axle with Brogen eBeam axle
• Place 65-100kWh battery pack between front and rear axles

More power supports towing requirements

🔑 Solution 3 – Range-Extended 2WD Pickup (ideal for 3.5t pickups and LDVs)

• Remove engine, gearbox, radiator and rear axle
• Retain front axle; replace rear axle with Brogen eBeam axle
• Place 65-100kWh battery pack between front and rear axles
• Add 20 kW range extender generator in original engine area

Meets longer range requirements

🔑 Solution 4 – Range-Extended 4WD Pickup (ideal for 3.5t pickups or and LDVs)

• Remove engine, gearbox, radiator and rear axle
• Replace front axle with integrated motor + controller + gearbox 3-in-1 assembly
• Replace rear axle with Brogen eBeam axle
• Place 65-100kWh battery pack between front and rear axles
• Add 20 kW range extender generator in original engine area
